In an increasingly interconnected yet polarized world, the ability to communicate across borders, cultures, and ideologies is more important than ever. The theme of jlgMUN 2025 — “Strengthening Collaborative Communication for Sustainable and Inclusive Progress” — reflects our belief that only through cooperation, mutual understanding, and inclusive dialogue can we tackle the complex challenges of our time.
This year’s conference focuses on how international collaboration and transparent communication can lead to more just, sustainable, and inclusive global systems. From economic equity to environmental justice, human rights to peace and security, delegates will explore a range of urgent global issues — always asking: How can we strengthen the channels through which the world works together?
Topic: Combating state-sponsored discrimination against LGBTQIA+ individuals through international legal cooperation
This committee explores the critical issue of institutionalized discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people. In many parts of the world, governments actively support or enforce laws that criminalize identity and suppress advocacy. Delegates will examine how international legal frameworks — including human rights treaties, UN mechanisms, and regional organizations — can work together to hold states accountable and protect marginalized communities. This topic directly challenges delegates to consider how collaborative legal action can ensure inclusivity and justice worldwide.
Topic: Establishing Emergency Communication Protocols between Nuclear States in the Event of Proxy Conflicts
As geopolitical tensions rise and regional conflicts threaten to spiral into larger wars, the risk of nuclear escalation has become a serious global concern. This committee focuses on creating reliable communication channels between nuclear-armed states during moments of crisis — especially when third-party conflicts are involved. Delegates will explore diplomatic, technological, and military strategies to prevent misunderstanding and maintain peace through transparent, secure, and rapid communication.
Topic: Developing binding international legal mechanisms to ensure accountability for environmental crimes
From illegal deforestation to toxic waste dumping, environmental crimes often go unpunished due to weak legal enforcement. This committee will tackle the challenge of defining and prosecuting such crimes at the international level. Delegates will discuss how legal instruments, international courts, and binding treaties can be used to protect ecosystems and hold both state and non-state actors accountable. It's a pressing call to build a just and sustainable future through the rule of law.
Topic: Ensuring equal access to quality education for refugee children in host and transit countries
With over 40 million displaced children worldwide, access to education has become a major humanitarian concern. Delegates in GA3 will focus on practical and inclusive solutions that help refugees receive consistent, culturally sensitive, and high-quality education across borders. The committee will explore collaborative strategies involving host governments, international organizations, NGOs, and communities to make education a reality for all — even in times of crisis.
Topic: Combating wealth inequality through fair international financial practices and addressing illicit financial flows
Extreme wealth disparities and illicit financial practices undermine global development and social cohesion. This committee addresses how international cooperation can enhance transparency, reduce tax evasion, and ensure that all countries — especially those in the Global South — benefit fairly from the global financial system. Delegates will explore policy tools, regulatory frameworks, and multilateral partnerships to promote a more equitable global economy.
Each topic selected by our committees challenges delegates to move beyond national interests and focus on dialogue, shared responsibility, and inclusive solutions. Whether negotiating legal reforms, designing crisis response protocols, or protecting vulnerable communities, delegates will be asked not only to advocate — but to collaborate.
At jlgMUN 2025, we believe that the future of international cooperation depends on the voices of young global citizens. We look forward to seeing how our delegates rise to the challenge of shaping a world where communication builds bridges — not barriers.
